Professional artist and potter since 1974. Resides paints and exhibits in his own
studio in Rayton.

Themes: Nature, Eucalyptus trees, Boababs, Highveld, Bushveld, Harbor scenes, old
Struisbaai, old Clanwilliam, old Waenhuiskrans, Nguni cattle, Fisherman's cottages,
aircraft, scenes of Greek islands
Philosophy: Learn to draw properly with pen and pencil first. Be knowledgeable about
the many elements of good drawing and colour e.g.. Balance, form (positive and negative)
perspective, tone, rhythm, etc. Strive to improve on your ability and technique with
each new painting.
Commissions: Portrait of Commissioner de Mist for South African Navy, Impala jet
for the Air fForce Senior Command and Staff course to be presented to the Air Force
College Museum, Buccaneer jet for the Buccaneer Squadron when they were phased out;
Boeing 707 refueller for the Commanding Officr on his retirement.

Exhibitions: Approximately forty exhibitions and art tours to Europe and Greek Islands
Paintings and pottery are taken up in private collections in South African, England,
Germany, Holland, France and in various Municipalities.
Currently Ernest is producing pottery clay (white earthenware, white stoneware, terra
cotta) for schools, colleges and private potteries.
